John Andrew Shoup

John Andrew Shoup, 65 of Washington, died unexpectedly Tuesday, August 16, 2016. He was born March 24, 1951 in Washington, the son of the late Homer “Pete” Arnold Shoup and Mary Gertude Andrew Shoup. John was a graduate of Washington High School and worked at Verizon for 30 years and was a member of the CWA Local 13000. He was an avid bicyclist and very active in fundraising bike rides for the BP MS150 National MS Society and also had completed a bike ride from coast to coast in various stages. He enjoyed gardening, bread baking, and road trips to National Parks. On September 2, 1995 he married Anita Fitzpatrick, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Lauren (Sean) Lottman of Portland, Oregon; a brother, Thomas A. (Ellen) Shoup of Los Altos, CA. A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 3 to 5 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington. Burial is private.
