Barbara Joy Fasnacht, 82, of Washington, died Monday, July 18, 2016, in the Washington Hospital.
Born August 19, 1933, in Hickory, on her family’s Shady Elms Farm, she was a daughter of the late John and Helen Stewart Caldwell.
Mrs. Fasnacht graduated from Hickory High School in 1951 and from Washington Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. She was an operating room nurse until she started her family.
Mrs. Fasnacht was a member of Hickory United Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, cross-stitching and jigsaw puzzles.
On June 16, 1956, she married William I. Fasnacht, who died July 5, 2005.
Surviving are her children, Colleen Fasnacht Allison (Tim) of Hickory, Eric Fasnacht (Tracey) of McDonald and Alan Fasnacht (Alisa) of Scenery Hill; a sister, Marjorie Curran of Hickory; grandchildren, John, Erin and Jared Allison, Caitie Gregg (Josh), Natalie Carter (Jake) and Chelsey Engel; and great-grandchildren, Beau Gregg and Gabby Carter.
Deceased are brothers, Donald, Jack and Gerry Caldwell, and a sister, Shirley Fryer.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Additional visitation will be held from Noon to 1 p.m., the time of service, in Hickory United Evangelical Presbyterian Church, on Friday, July 22nd, with Pastor Lou Templeton officiating.
Burial will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory.
