Mary Emma Porter, 84 of Washington, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the Washington County Health Center.
She was born September 25, 1931 in Washington, the daughter of the late Herman Friedman and Elsie Evan Friedman.
Mary Emma graduated from Washington High School and worked at Hazel Atlas Glass for 25 years. She also worked at Allison Avenue Baptist Church as a janitor for 25 years.
She was a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church and belonged to the Washington Senior Center.
On June 28, 1957 she married Thomas Harris Porter, who died August 3, 1994.
Surviving are a daughter, Jody (Charles) Weaver of Scenery Hill; a niece, Janet (Dean) Kadamenos of Washington; a grandchild, Hunter Weaver; step grandchildren, Lovinda Michalski, Erin Careighton and Justin Weaver; great grandchild, Zelda Willow Weaver Cline.
Deceased are two sisters, Louise Wheeler and Betty VanTorre; a brother, Ernest Carry.
Friends will be received Monday, July 18, 2016 from 3 to 7 p.m. the time of service at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington with Pastor Rick Bruckner officiating. Burial will be private.
