Geraldine “Jerry” Anne Tarr, 89, of Beaufort, NC, formerly of Washington, died Thursday, July 7, 2016.
She was born April 10, 1927, in Washington, the daughter of the late James Gordon and Mabel Kline Gordon.
Jerry graduated from Washington High School and worked as a beautician in Washington and retired from Giant Food in northern VA as a bakery manager.
On April 4, 1947, she married Raymond C. Tarr, who died July 9, 1990.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Vienna, VA.
Jerry was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She loved traveling by train, reading, genealogy, and her dog, Beau.
Surviving are three daughters, Cherie Tarr (Michael) Ogland of SC, Cindi Tarr and Lynn (Charles) Tarr-Custer of NC; two grandchildren, Amber Custer and Amanda Swierczek-Belisario, both of North Carolina; the joy of her life in her final year, her great grandson, George Lucas Belisario; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, deceased are a son, Charles Tarr, who died at birth; 10 siblings, James C. Gordon, Arthur Gordon, Robert “Toby” Gordon, Chester Gordon, Wilbert “Bud” Gordon, Ralph Gordon, Viola Gump, Emma Grace Shamitko, Helen Majewski, and Betty Gloady.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 6 till 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 14th. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
