E. Joyce Dunbar Courtwright, 85, of Washington, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, in her home, following a lengthy illness.
She was born January 30, 1931, in Washington, daughter of the late Albert and Pearl Kuhn Durbin.
Mrs. Courtwright graduated from Washington High School and retired as secretary of the Fourth Presbyterian Church, after 20 years of service, where she was a long-time member.
She volunteered as a secretary for Habitat for Humanity and was a member of Ladies of the Elk.
Mrs. Courtwright found great pleasure in, and was instrumental in raising her grandsons, Michael and Daniel.
She enjoyed reading, dartball, playing cards, and spending time with family.
Joyce always said that she was blessed to have two great men in her life. Deceased are her high school sweetheart and first husband, David Lee Dunbar, who died in 1973; her second husband, Floyd Courtwright, who died in 1987; a brother, Larry Durbin; and a sister, Dorothy George.
Surviving are a son, David R. (Debbie) Dunbar of Cranberry; three daughters, Joy L. (Andy) Weiner of Paris, Kentucky, Carol DeRose (Charlie) Williamson and Karen J. (Jon) Minor, both of Washington; a brother, Frank (Diane) Durbin of Chrisney, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emily, Eric, Katie, Julie, Melanie, Daniel, Michael and Lauren; and three great-grandchildren, Dean, Charley and Brooks.
Please join us for a memorial service in celebration of Joyce's life, at 11 a.m., Friday, June 24th in Fourth Presbyterian Church, 1000 Jefferson Avenue, Washington.
Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
