Ruth Louise Miller

Ruth Louise Miller, 86 of Washington, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 at the Donnell House, following a brief illness. She was born July 1, 1929 in Steubenville, OH, the daughter of the late Frank and Grace Winters Briscoe of Wintersville, OH. Ruth graduated from high in Follansbee, WV and in her early years, she was employed by Girl Scouts of American and Brockway Glass. Later she was employed for many years in the cafeteria at Trinity High School and then at Mary’s Scrubs and Such. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 50 years and was a longtime volunteer at the Washington Hospital Gift Shop and the Washington Senior Center. Ruth enjoyed playing cards, Scrabble and bingo as it allowed her time to spend time with her friends and love ones. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and singing in the choir at church. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Harry Brownlee Miller, who died April 3, 2014. She is survived by her son, Harry S. Miller of Erie; a daughter Judy Miller of West Middletown; two brothers, Terry Briscoe of KY and Edward Briscoe of SC; her close friends, Jim Zlamal and Diane Maloy Bednarski; as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews and sisters in law, friends and neighbors. Deceased are her brothers, Charles “Chuck” Briscoe and James “Jim” Briscoe; a sister, Kaye Briscoe. Friends will be received Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held Friday, June 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Fred McCloskey officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Gardens.
