Wilson W. Carroll
Wilson W. Carroll, 92 of Washington, died Friday, May 27, 2016 at the Donnell House.
He was born April 21, 1924 in Washington, the son of the late Wyck Carroll and Hazel Hootman Carroll.
Wilson graduated from Trinity High School and attended Pittsburgh Watch & Clock Repair.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Normandy and Northern France in World War ll, having having received The Good Conduct Medal, American Service Theater Medal, Three Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart and the Victory Medal
Mr. Carroll was self-employed jeweler for more than 40 years at Wilson Carroll’s Jewelers.
Wilson was the oldest living member of the Upper Buffalo Presbyterian Church.
He enjoyed woodworking, playing the piano and working outdoors. He was a member of the Sunset Lodge # 623.
On May 29, 1947 he married Gertrude A. Naser, who died July 14, 2010.
Suriviving are two sons, David Wilson Carroll of Nashville, TN, Jeffrey (Leslie) Carroll of Cambridge, OH; two daughters, Jane E. (David) Wylie of Port Clinton, OH, Clea (Lee) Meneely of Wellsburg, WV; a brother, James (Jean) Carroll of Buffalo Village; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Melissa, Heather, Jason, Jeffery and Madison; nine great grandchildren, Alec, Adia, Caileigh, Chase, Cianna, Guy, Myles, Knox and Blake.
Deceased are a brother, Clinton “Sonny” Carroll; a sister, Cleabelle Chambers.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held Thursday at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Upper Buffalo Cemetery.
The family is requesting memorial donations be made to Washington Hospital Hospice or Upper Buffalo Presbyterian Church in his memory.
