Gregory John Kumer, 51, of Hickory, died peacefully Saturday, April 23, 2016, at home surrounded by family.
He was born November 14, 1964, in Washington, a son of John Kumer and Donna McFarland Kumer of Hickory.
On June 24, 1989, he married Sherri Reed Kumer, who survives.
Mr. Kumer was a 1982 graduate of Fort Cherry High School.
For nearly 30 years, he was employed at Al Lorenzi Lumber Company and retired from John Diamond Custom Homes in 2015.
He enjoyed watching his sons play sports; playing cards with his family, Harry Sawhill, John McGivern and Don "Speedy" Reed, his father-in-law; making milkshakes for all his friends; and especially spending time with all his numerous fur companions.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and parents, are three children, Gregory, Laken and Joshua Kumer, all at home; a brother, Ralph Kumer of Washington; a sister, Terri McGinnis (Rich) of Washington; nieces and nephews, Stephen Semerod, Carly and Richie McGinnis, Hannah Felber, Megan Felber, Jack Felber and Adam Fitch; and father- and mother-in-law, Don and Shirley Reed of Hickory.
Deceased are a sister, Cindy Poland, and a sister-in-law, Joan Kumer.
Friends will be received Tuesday form 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 27th, with Rev. Dr. Stuart Broberg officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jill Ellis Breast Friends Cancer Foundation, 810 Duncan Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
