Joseph Muncie, Sr.

Joseph Muncie, Sr., 88, of Washington, died Saturday, April 16, 2016, in Washington County Health Center. He was born January 6, 1928, in Washington, a son of the late Nick Muncie and Catherine McManus Muncie. A veteran of the Army, Mr. Muncie was discharged in September 1947, as a Technician, fifth grade. He worked as a laborer at Hankinson Corporation, where he worked on industrial air dryers. Mr. Muncie loved softball, fishing and hunting, and was a great family man. On August 25, 1967, he married Eileen Grace Henry, who died October 5, 2001. Surviving are two sons, Joe Muncie, Jr. (Barbara) of Newark, Ohio and Nick Muncie (Pat) of Claysville; a daughter, Catherine Patricia Barrett (Jim) of Washington; a stepson, Gary Chambers (Kathy) of Washington D.C.; three stepdaughters, Michelle Whiteman (Donald) of Uhrichsville, Ohio, Wendy Tiano (Otello) of Irwin and Karen Chambers (Roxanne) of Pittsburgh; a brother, Donald Muncie (Harriet) of Uniontown; a sister, Rose Novell of Heath, Ohio; numerous grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Deceased are three brothers, Nicholas, Richard and Henry. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation or service. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Washington Cemetery.
