Carl Richard Mckinney

Carl Richard McKinney, 92 of Washington, died Thursday April 14, 2016 at home. He was born August 3, 1923 in Pancake, the son of the late James Earl McKinney and Iva Mae Hartzell McKinney. Carl was a graduate of Washington High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he received the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Stars and the Distinguished Unit Badge. Carl worked at Brockway Glass and American Mobile Home Supply. He was a member of Washington Alliance Church. Carl enjoyed painting, gardening, attending church, animals of all kinds, glazed donuts, chocolate pudding and spending time with family. He had a wonderful sense of humor. On July 5, 1991 he married Norma V. McKinney who survives. Also surviving are a son, Mark A. (Joy) of Brooks, GA; a daughter, Kathy (Tom) Kelley of Washington; step daughter, Cindy Emerick of Aliquippa; ten grandchildren, Marcy Conklin, Christopher Morris, Terri DeDeest, T. J. Thompson, Carl Thompson, Dee and Ricky McKinney, John Mark Conklin, Sarah Joy Conklin and Michele Ludwin; eleven great grandchildren, Robert Mullen Jr., Essence Nikole Conklin, Krista Greene, Kaila Greene, Kameron Ludwin, Sienna and Brian Thompson, Ciara and Caroline Royce Jimenez, Mason Wynn and Gabe Huges. Deceased are two sons, Irvin Dale Thompson, Richard McKinney; a brother, Howard McKinney; 3 siblings that died at birth; a sister, Ruth Witzeling; a granddaughter, Carol Boatman. Friends will be received Tuesday, April 19, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Clarence Croscutt and Mark Conklin officiating. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
