William Blakemore McLaughlin, 60 of Washington, died, Saturday, March 12, 2016 at his home.
He was born January 11, 1956 in Newport News, VA, the son of the late William B. McLaughlin and Virginia and Guy Harris Sr.
William graduated from Foil College in Ireland and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he received the Army Commendation Medal, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge and Grenade Expert Badge. He also served in the Army National Guard.
He was a member of Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post #175 and loved going to Scotty’s Ice Cream.
On February 23, 1979 he married Susan JoAnne Anderson, who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Melissa (Albert) Russell of Washington, Jessica McLaughlin of Washington, Stephanie (Bill Hutchison) Butera of Washington; a brother, Guy (Melinda) Harris Jr. of Georgia; two sisters, Karen (Jerry) Kiskadden of Amity, Kellie (Pat) Orlosky of Washington; six grandchildren, Gail McLaughlin, Summer Colbert, Miranda Russell, Malorie Russell, Eraca Butera and Emma Hutchison; a great grandchild, Rylynn Bush.
Deceased are a brother, Michael Harris; a sister, Kathie Sims.
A graveside service will be held, Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with Pastor Brandie Mavrich officiating. Military rites will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post #175. Arrangements are being handled by William G. Neal Funeral Homes, 925 Allison Ave, Washington.
