Clarence Alvin Reeves Clarence Alvin Reeves, 86, of Washington, died Wednesday, February 24, 2016, in Kindred Hospital, Oakdale. He was born July 4, 1929, in Lagonda, a son of Clarence William Reeves and Ellen Mounts Reeves. Mr. Reeves attended Lagonda Elementary School and graduated from Trinity High School in 1947, where he played football and baseball. In 1950, he married Barbara Louise Morrow, who survives. He was the loving father of Chris Alan Reeves, who died December 8, 2006, William Morrow Reeves (Susan Franz) and Susan Louise Scheidemantle; loving grandfather of Jered, Jordan and Calvin Reeves, Colton Greco, Ellen and Eliza Scheidemantle; and Megan Reeves; and loving great-grandfather of Liam and Peyton Reeves. Also surviving are a brother-in-law, George L. Morrow, and his wife Janice and their children, Adam Morrow and wife Susan and children, Mark and Bella; Aaron Morrow and wife Becky and their daughter, Elizabeth; and Sarah Morrow and her son Dylan. Mr. Reeves served in the Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas, Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, and Fort Lewis, Washington. He enjoyed seeing the United States with his wife in their travels across the country during his service. Mr. Reeves worked at Washington Steel as a roll grinder for several years before opening Reeves Sport Shop, Inc., in 1966, which closed in 2015. He enjoyed the many aspects of operating a family business and the family farm. Mr. Reeves was a member of Masonic Sunset Lodge 623, the National Rifle Association, and Brookville Hunting Camp. He was an avid hunter locally and enjoyed many hunting trips to various states, Canada and Nova Scotia, winning many trophies. He mentored his children and grandchildren in the love of the outdoors and the family farm. Mr. Reeves took his last buck at age 86 on the family farm with the help of his grandson. At the request of the deceased, services and burial in Prosperity Cemetery were private. Memorial donations may be made to Citizens Library, 55 South College Street, Washington, PA 15301.
