Melvin Arnold Carl, Sr., 83, of Washington, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016, in Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care. He was born August 14, 1932, in Washington, a son of the late Walter Arnold Carl and Addah L. Bell Carl. Mr. Carl graduated from Chartiers High School and retired from Jessop Steel Company. He enjoyed classic and antique cars, especially Mopar cars, and attending car shows. His wife, Virginia Lee Scott Carl, died on January 12, 2016. Surviving are a son, Melvin A Carl, Jr., of Washington; a daughter, Mary Ann Crawford (Jay Sr.) of Eldersville; two brothers, Ray Carl of Washington and Howard Carl of Hickory; a grandson, Jay Crawford, Jr., of Washington; and a great-granddaughter, Madison Crawford of Washington. Deceased is a brother, Jim Carl. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m., the time of service, on Saturday, February 20th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington. Burial in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory, will be held at the convenience of the family.
