Clyde Richard Adams, 84, of Prosperity, died Monday, February 15, 2016, in Donnell House, Washington, following a battle with cancer. He was born May 26, 1931, in Taylorstown, a son of the late Walter L. Adams and Effie Brooks Adams. A veteran of the U. S. Army, Mr. Adams served in Korea, earning a Korean Service Medal with one bronze service star, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and Good Conduct Medal. He was a retired union laborer and worked in Ohio. He liked farming and raising beef cattle and enjoyed attending auctions, collecting antiques and eating at Kentucky Fried Chicken. Mr. Adams adored his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Jean McCollum Adams, two daughters, Diane L. Adams, and Melanie Adams Davis; one son, Daniel R. Adams; two grandchildren, Logan McChesney, a member of the Army National Guard and student at I.U.P., and Madison Gallagher, a 9th grade student at McGuffey High School. Also surviving are two sisters, Laura Ellen Adams Varner and Nancy Adams Ambrose. Deceased are four sisters, Ethel Renforth, Nelrose Renforth, Mary Lou Crawford and Jenny Wigman; and three brothers, Harold Adams, Walter Adams and Chuck Adams. He will be missed by family members and friends. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, February 18th, in East Buffalo Presbyterian Church, 180 East Buffalo Church Road, Washington. Private graveside services will be held in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township, at the convenience of the family. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Hunt-Kennedy Post 639, Claysville.
