Ronald James Plymire, 69, of Washington, died Sunday, February 7, 2016, in Donnell House. He had been ill since January 2015. He was born August 21, 1946, in Los Angeles, California, a son of Ruth Yeager Plymire of Hudson, Florida and the late Robert Plymire. Mr. Plymire graduated from McGuffey High School. He was a self-employed truck driver and handyman, and retired from Crile Machine in 2008. A motorcycle enthusiast, Mr. Plymire loved hunting, fishing and boating, and was proud to always help his friends with their projects. Mr. Plymire was a veteran of the Air Force, serving twice on active duty. During his first term of service, 1965-1968, he served in Vietnam and earned the Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze battle star, Republic of Vietnam Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. While serving in the Air Force Reserves, Mr. Plymire served on active duty a second time, 1971-1973, and was honorably discharged with a rank of Sergeant. On May 19, 2007, he married Nancy Rockey, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Ronda Cheryl Plymire of Washington; a stepson, Scott Rockey Sr., of Washington; two brothers, Ray Plymire of Hudson, Florida and Robert Plymire of Texas; a sister, Linda Gibson of Hudson, Florida; a grandchild, Dakota James Dillon; two step grandchildren, Scott Rockey Jr. and Jordyn Rockey; the mother of his daughter, Alberta M. McCartney of Washington; several beloved nieces and nephews, including Bobby Plymire, with whom he had a close and special relationship; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He will be missed by his dog, Jordan. He will be sadly missed by all the people who had the honor of calling him a friend. Deceased is a brother, Harold Plymire. A graveside service will be held at National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 16th. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 and active duty Air Force personnel.
