Jerry “Buck” Stenger, 94, of Avella, died February 1, 2016, in Townview Health and Rehabilitation, Canonsburg.
He was born December 16, 1921, in Mt. Pleasant Township, a son of John Stenger and Marie Miller Stenger.
Mr. Stenger served in the Army during World War II.
He worked for Avella School District for many years, was a self-employed farmer, and enjoyed gardening.
Mr. Stenger was Christian by faith.
Surviving are his wife, Sarah Ann “Sally” Bissell Stenger; a son, Jason (Michelle) Stenger of Avella; a daughter, Heidi (Kurt) Meyers of Washington; a stepson, Audie Lycans of West Virginia; a stepdaughter, Linda (Joe) Gagliani of Avella; four step grandchildren, Angela Lycans of Avella, Heather (Craig) Curtis of Nashville, Tennessee, Brittany (Jason) Mears of West Newton and Joey Gagliani of Avella; and one step great-grandson, Luke Mears of West Newton.
Deceased are several brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received from 5 till 8 p.m. Thursday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, February 5th, with Pastor Fran Skariot officiating. Burial will follow in Independence Cemetery.
