Robert Thomas Coburn, Sr.

Robert Thomas Coburn, Sr., 88, of Canonsburg, died on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, in Strabane Woods Assisted Living Facility. He was born on April 10, 1927, in Uniontown, a son of the late Harold and Iona Walters Coburn. He was a graduate of Uniontown High School, and was a longtime member of First Christian Church. Mr. Coburn was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving his country in World War II. After the war, Robert was a salesman until he started his company as the Co-Owner and President of Coburn-Myers Fastening Systems, Inc., in Trainer, PA. Among his many interests, he found great pleasure in riding his motorcycle and traveling, and he took annual vacations to Arizona. Also an avid NASCAR fan, he loved watching the races, and occasionally attending them in person. Robert was a loving and kind person, who will be missed by all who knew him. On July 1, 2000, he married Joanne Bennett, of Canonsburg, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Debbie (Frank) Fiem, of Bentleyville; a son, Robert (Diane) Coburn, Jr., of Clifton Heights; three stepsons, William (Cathy) Bennett, of Arizona, Timothy Bennett, of Arizona, and Mark (Felicia) Bennett, of Pittsburgh, a step daughter, Karen Bennett, of Canonsburg; six grandchildren, Richard (Erin) Pellegrini, Michael (Brandi) Pellegrini, Becky Coburn, Katherine Bennett, Rory Bennett, and Christopher Bennett; and seven great grandchildren, Ian, Aden, Elliott, Alexis, Tyler Liam and Avery. Deceased are his first wife, Tillie Coburn, who died in 1998, two brothers, William and Harold, and a sister, Jean Francis. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., in First Christian Church, 615 East Beau St., Washington, PA, with Pastors Stephen Smythers and Sue Petritis officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church, 615 East Beau St., Washington, PA 15301, or Gateway Hospice, 95 West Beau St, Suite 501, Washington, PA 15301. Arrangements are by the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA 15301.
