Ronald Robert Cochran

Ronald “Ron” Robert Cochran, 80, of Washington, died peacefully in his home on Friday, January 15, 2016, following a lengthy battle with Shy-Drager Syndrome. He was born in Canonsburg, on January 20, 1935, a son of the late Georgia Blye Lemley Cochran and Alfred Neil Cochran. Ron was raised by his mother and step-father, Carl W. Hartley. In his early years he helped out on the family farm, and graduated from Washington High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1963. Ron studied Pre-Med at Washington and Jefferson College in Washington; Advertising and Accounting at the University of Louisville in Kentucky; Labor Negotiations at New York University, NY and received a Degree in History from Waynesburg College, PA. His employment career began as a salesman for Hanover Shoes in Washington. He worked in Finance for both Guardian Finance Company and Liberty Loan Consumer Discount Co. of Washington, where he was the Vice President; held the CEO position for National Church Supply Company in Chester, WV; held the CFO position for Ford Credit; then finally started his own brokerage company, Alliance Financial before retiring in 2002. For several years during his retirement, he served as a financial consultant for Jim Eubanks Trucking in Martins Ferry, OH. Mr. Cochran was a long time member of the Church of the Covenant in Washington, serving as an Elder, Deacon and Lay Minister. He also served as a Board Member for the Salvation Army. On April 28, 1984, he married Kathryn L. “Kepy” Phillips, who survives. Also surviving, are five children, Brenda Cochran Widows, Becky Cochran (Michael) Yue, Beth Cochran (Brian) Marincov, Jeff (Joyce) Cochran, and ‘Skip’ (Chas Flexer) Cochran; three stepchildren; Kimberly Levers (Doug) Jasek, Laura Levers (Peter) Riley, and Tracy Levers (Craig) Fowler; eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was a loving husband, father, and loved by all who knew him Friends will be received on Monday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Home, 925 Allison Avenue in Washington. Burial in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, will be private, and held at the convenience of the family. Military Rites will be accorded at the cemetery by the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion. A memorial service in the Church of the Covenant will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2016, with Rev. Dr. Stuart D. Broberg officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Family Hospice and Palliative Care, 50 Moffett St, Pittsburgh, PA 15243, and/or The Church of the Covenant, 267 E Beau St, Washington, PA 15301.
