Stanley P. “Doc” Pliska, 84, went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, in the Washington Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born in Washington, June 14, 1931, in Washington, a son of the late Stanley Pliska, Sr., and Paula Nawoj Pliska.
A graduate of Washington High School, he was Christian by faith.
Mr. Pliska was the longtime owner/operator of Pliska’s Body Shop, in Washington, and sponsored the Washington Youth Baseball for many years.
Mr. Pliska was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War. For his service, he was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal Germany, and the National Defense Service Medal.
Stanley enjoyed bowling and golfing.
He was a lifetime member of the Alpine Club Lanes, where he was a sponsor for many years. He was also a member of the Washington Country Club and the Elks Club.
On February 4, 1956, he married Marie Ann Trimarki, who died on March 3, 2014.
Surviving are a daughter, Christine (Vern) Houser, of Washington; two sons, Jeffrey “Jake” (Jodi) Pliska, and Kevin Pliska, both of Washington; two granddaughters, Morgan Marie and Madison Diane Pliska; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a brother, Frank Pliska, and a sister, Jane Roberts.
Friends will be received on Friday, from 4 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 16, 2016, with Pastor Scott Warne officiating.
Entombment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Mausoleum.
Military rites will be accorded at the cemetery by the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
