Albert John Kurowski, Jr., 88 of Washington left this world peacefully, January 1, 2016 to spend time with his Lord Savior.
He was called “Al” and “Charlie” by his closest friends.
He was born September 12, 1927 the son of Albert John Kurowski and Nellie Kurowski, both now deceased of Washington. He was the youngest of three brothers Frank and Tony Kurwoski of Ohio also deceased.
On July 4, 1948, he married Anna Sophia Sleziak who survives.
He was always a faithful husband and devoted supporter of his wife and two children. He served his country proudly and bravely as a soldier in World War II in the European conflict.
During his life he worked at Duncan and Miller Glass Plant and then Universal Cyclops at Bridgeville putting two children through college who went on to become a doctor and a lawyer. He was true example of the American Spirit always finding work to support him and his family instead of relying on the government to support his family. That was a strong work ethic he instilled in his children.
He enjoyed playing the button-box at the Senior Citizens Center in a small senior group. He was a member of Calvary Temple Church in Washington. He was a member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars and The American Legion of Washington.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Anna Kurowski; his son Dr. Frank Kurowski, M.D. and daughter in law Kitty Metzger of Philadelphia; his son Attorney Charles E. Kurowski and daughter in law Sherry (Maley) Kurowski of Washington; and his niece Sophie Murphy and her husband James Murphy of Waynesboro.
Friends will be received Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday, January 4, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, where services will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. James Newman officiating.
