Sidney Alexander Davis

Sidney Alexander Davis, 92, of Washington, died peacefully on Friday, December 25, 2015, in the Washington County Health Center. He was born on April 21, 1923, in Sumterville, AL, the beloved son of Herman and Virginia Bayless Davis, raised by his late stepfather, Jacob Barnes. Mr. Davis was a Kent State University graduate, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. A long time member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, he had worked for more than thirty-two years as a systems analyst for U.S. Steel Corporation, South Side Works. He was a lifetime member of the Washington Country Club. Sidney enjoyed playing cards, bowling, golfing, reading and spending time with his family. On May 27, 1953, he married Florence Kohlmyer, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Cynthia (Wallace) McCarrell, of Washington, Cheryl (John) Christopher, of Boston, MA, and Carolyn Davis, of Upper St. Clair; a half brother, Charles Barnes, of Kent, OH; three grandchildren, Leslie (Eric) Zito, and Andrew and Michelle McCarrell; and a great grandchild, Brooks Davis Zito. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2015, in Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2040 Washington Rd., Upper St. Clair, with Rev. Dr. Tammy Yeager officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church Music & Arts Fund, 2040 Washington Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15241. Arrangements by the William G.
