Frank Nicholas Zito, 78, died Saturday, November 21, 2015, surrounded by family, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was born June 14, 1937, in Farrell, a son of the late Salvadore and Inez Guanciale Zito. He was raised in New Kensington, graduating from New Kensington High School in 1955. He earned as bachelor's of science degree in education from California University of Pennsylvania and a master's degree in education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In addition to his parents, deceased are his son, Frank Zito Jr., and his stepmother, Rachel. Mr. Zito started his career as a teacher at Arnold High School, moved to Juniata Valley High School as a guidance counselor and football coach and later moved to Washington in 1968 to become principal at McGuffey High School. He retired as superintendent of McGuffey School District in 1997. Mr. Zito loved his work and making a difference in the lives of students. He was a consummate educator. He loved being around children, especially his grandchildren. He was a proud husband, father and grandfather. He and his wife, Marilyn, spent many years in retirement traveling. He leaves his wife of 55 years, Marilyn Devine Zito; three sons, David and wife Jane, James and Michael; grandchildren Taylor, Katherine, Will, Nicholas, Michael and Mathew; and brother Anthony Zito and wife Andrea. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 27, in Immaculate Conception Roman Church, Washington. A gathering of friends will follow from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Drive, Uniontown, OH 44685.
