Dedicated Teacher and Administrator
Dorothy Elizabeth Clements Nesbit, 100, of Murrysville, died on Sunday, November 15, 2015.
She was born on August 15, 1915, in Sardis, PA, a daughter of the late Samuel Addison and Mildred Alice Fitzsimmons Clements.
After graduating from Slippery Rock University, Dorothy taught Elementary School for most of forty years in Franklin Regional School District as a teacher, principal and reading supervisor.
She was an active member of Plum Creek Presbyterian Church as Sunday School superintendent and teacher, later as Deacon and Elder
She enjoyed working with the Bicentennial committees in her church and in Plum Borough.
She really enjoyed her years as training specialist, and assistant state director of AARP in Westmoreland and Somerset counties, as well as past president of Round Top Chapter #3066.
Dorothy was Past Worthy Matron, and life member of the Order of the Easter Star #158, past Queen of Dames of Malta, past officer in White Shrine of Jerusalem, and earned the Grand Cross of Color in Order of Rainbow for Girls.
A member of the Plum Senior Citizen’s Club, she also was a member of Murrysville Golden Agers, Washington Township Senior Citizens Club, and Unity Golden Agers.
Mrs. Nesbit enjoyed traveling, crafts, bowling, dancing and ceramics.
Surviving are a daughter, Joyce Lynn Nesbit, of Canonsburg; and a grandson, Todd Edward Schollaert, of Canonsburg.
Deceased, are her husband, Edward Grover Nesbit, a grandson, James Thomas Schollaert, and a brother, Floyd M. Clements.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 21, 2015, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, with Pastor Sue Petritis officiating.
