Kelly Ann Neal, 49 of Washington, died Sunday, November 8, 2015 at the Donnell House, following an 8-year battle with ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
She was born June 28, 1966 in Washington, the daughter of Mary E. Witsberger Neal Scott of Claysville and the late James D. Neal.
Kelly graduated from Washington High School in 1984 and worked as a group home aide for ARC for 12 years, retiring after her illness progressed.
She was catholic by faith.
She loved camping, all animals from a very early age, theme parks, especially roller coasters, the Penguins and Nascar Racing.
She elected to participate in the ALS tissue donation program for research, after her death.
Surviving are a son, Joshua Ackley of Washington; a daughter, Jessica Neal of Washington; her partner since 1987, Sherman Ackley; two brothers, David (Sue) Neal of Wexford, S. Scott (Jane) Neal of Washington; two grandchildren, Julianna Sanpietro and Joshua Ackley II, step father, J. Paul Scott of Claysville; best friend, Arlene Juchniewicz.
Friends will be received Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held Friday, November 13, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Burial in Mt. Prospect Cemetery will be held at a later date.
