Margie Ann Murphy, born Feb. 19, 1946, passed away at U.P.M.C. Passavant on Saturday, October 31, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Charles Wells and Grenet “Becky” Jackson Wells of Washington, wife of the late William A. Murphy, and mother of the late Terri Murphy Lucas. Surviving Margie are two sons, Allison “Buster” Murphy married to Jill Murphy, of Washington, and Allan Barr married to Robin Barr, of Washington; a daughter Rebecca “Becky” Murphy Hirt married to James Hirt, of Evans City; a grandson Jason Abbondanza; three granddaughters Kayla, Megan and Jenna Murphy; and two stepgrandchildren, Brendon and Brittany Dayton.
Margie was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed her dogs, reading and watching the wildlife from her back porch. Though battling health issues for several years, Margie remained strong and uplifting to everyone around her, earning the honor of being considered family to almost everyone she knew. Her loss will be mourned by many.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 5th.
