Fernando “Fred” Tracanna, 89 of Washington, died Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the Donnell House.
He was born February 20, 1926, in Washington, the son of the late, Frank and Concetta Cancelmi Tracanna.
Fred graduated from Washington High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WW II, where he received the Good Conduct Medal, WW II Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal.
He worked for S.A Meyer Jewelry Co. for 26 years as chief accountant. He also worked for Suwak Trucking as paymaster until his retirement.
Fred was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church where he donated his time for 50 years as business administrator. He also worked for the church bazaar, St. Patrick’s Day Raffle and the Fish Fry. In 2001 he was awarded the Manifestation Award from Bishop Wuerl.
He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus #1083, the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175 and the Washington Elks.
On September 19, 1953 he married Norma Comito, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, the joy of his life, Joyce (Skip) Hood of Washington; a brother, Frank Tracanna Jr. of Washington; two sisters, Norma Wilson and Martha Barbarossa both of Washington; three grandchildren, Ryan (Kimberly) Hood of Lexington, KY, Tony (Jennifer) Hood of Washington, Nick Hood of Washington; five great grandchildren Nathan, Zachary, Hailey, Jack and Luke; best friends, Bob and Joanne Coyle; several nieces and nephews and all his Friday Dinner at the Elks friends.
Deceased are a brother, Clyde Tracanna; a sister, Zena Rossi.
Friends will be received Friday, October 30, 2015 from 2 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church with Father William Feeney as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. The Knights of Columbus will recite the Rosary on Friday, October 30th at 5:30 p.m. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175.
