Nellie Jane Bissett

Nellie Jane Brown Bissett, 91 of Hickory, died Sunday, October 25,2015 at the Washington Hospital. She was born November 10, 1923 in Herminie, PA, the daughter of the late Wilfred Brown and Sarah Coughenour Brown. Nellie was a homemaker and a member of Chartiers Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, where she was and elder and very active in her faith. She belonged to the Gretna Grange. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family; she also enjoyed jigsaw and word search puzzles. On November 27, 1940 she married Howard Paul Bissett, who died August 20, 2005. Surviving are two sons, Howard Paul (Sally) Bissett Jr.of Houston, Robert Rea (Dianna) Bissett of Hickory; a daughter, Jane Elizabeth (Rich) Lucas of Hickory; son in law, William (Betty) Ullom; daughter in law, Rita Bissett of Hickory; two brothers, Benjamin (Maryanne) Brown of Sandusky, OH, Ronald (Barb) Brown of Augsberg, Germany; four sisters, Elizabeth Bruce of McDonald, Sara (Norm) Hughes of East Liverpool, OH, Lois Ruth Diamond and Patty Moreau both of McDonald; eleven grandchildren, William (Sandy) Ullom, Theodore (Debra) Ullom, Sheila Bissett (Art) Hackinson, Janet Bissett Hamilton, Dr. Jeffrey Paul (Amy) Bissett, Leslie Bissett (Ryan) Kislock, Robert Ullom, Andrew (Georgia) Ullom, Sara Ann (Derek) Zofchak, Cody Wood, Carman Jane Lucas; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Deceased are a son, Edward Charles Bissett; a daughter, Lois Mae Bissett Ullom; two brothers, Wilford Brown and George Brown; two sisters, Grace Sivak and Noreen Ulrich. Friends will be received Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2015. Burial will follow at Mt. Prospect Cemetery.
