Albert Dewey White, 60, of Washington, died unexpectedly, Friday, October 16, 2015, in his home. He was born October 27, 1954, in Washington, a son of the late Alvin C. White and Loretta Lucille Gallagher Risbin. A 1972 graduate of Trinity High School, Mr. White graduated from California University of Pennsylvania and did post graduate work in English at the University of Pittsburgh, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He was a schoolteacher in Pittsburgh City Schools, substituted in Trinity Area School District, and worked as an equipment technician at Tri-Medical Supply. Most recently he was employed at Valley National Security Services. Mr. White served in the Navy Reserves and was a life member of the United States Navy League. He loved building model Navy ships and held several public displays around the area, including at Citizens Library. Mr. White was a life member of the American Humanist Association. In addition, he was a member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175, L.O.O.M. 22, Russian Brotherhood 247, Independent Political Club, and Washington County Historical Society. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul. Surviving are a stepsister, Debra Bloom of Washington; two nieces, Jodi Astorina and Jennifer Hawk; two great-nieces, Hailey Astorina and Ashtyn Hawk; a great-nephew, Tanner Astorina; and cousins, Merry Aber, Frank Aber, Dawn Moody, Cheryl Martin and Lorraine Phillips. Deceased is his stepfather, Robert A. ”Red” Risbin, who raised him. He will be greatly missed by his beloved cats, Anastasia and Sebastian. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4 till 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 22nd. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Washington Area Humane Society, PO Box 66, Eighty Four, PA 15330; Washington County Historical Society, 49 East Maiden Street, Washington, PA 15301; or to Citizens Library, 55 South College Street, Washington, PA 15301.
