Margaret Golna Yater Welch, 88, of Washington, died Saturday, August 29, 2015, in her home.
She was born April 24, 1927, in Washington, a daughter of Peter and Mary Maceyko Golna.
A devout woman, Mrs. Welch was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and its Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters Groups.
She worked as a certified nursing assistant at Washington County Health Center.
Mrs. Welch loved spending time with her family, crafts, playing cards, bingo and darts, bowling, going to the casino, and watching QVC.
Her first husband, Robert Lee Yater is deceased. Her second husband, John “Freddie” Welch, died in 1988.
Surviving are four sons, William Yater (Georgeana Byrne) of Monongahela, Robert Yater (Dawn) of Plainfield, Connecticut, Joseph Yater (Marie) of Wind Ridge, and Michael Yater (Cheryl) of Eighty Four; four daughters, Mary Corbett (Elm Swalin) and Linda Molinaro, both of Washington, Elizabeth Tavernier (Paul) of Danielson, Connecticut and Theresa Lariviere (Marc) of Eighty Four; four stepchildren, Keith Welch, Kathy Carnes (Paul), Karen Legerski (David) all of Washington, and Rose Ellen Cornell (Wray) of Greensburg; a brother, John Golna of Washington; two sisters, Veronica Boone of Oakdale and Carolyn Zoeller (William) of Claysville; 24 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Deborah Hopkins; one granddaughter; and three great-grandsons.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 till 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 3rd, in Immaculate Conception Church, with Father Mike Conway as celebrant. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
