William “Bill” Larkin, 84, of Washington, died Tuesday, August 25, 2015, in Donnell House.
He was born July 3, 1931, in Washington, a son of the late Harold Larkin and Ethel Caldwell Larkin.
Mr. Larkin attended Washington High School and wrestled under Dr. William Harris. When in 8th grade, he was the WPIAL 88-pound champion.
Bill, or “Whitey” as he was known to his friends, managed Eat N Park restaurants for many years, and then worked a number of years as the manager of Coen Tire. He finished his working career with Consol Energy as manager of the central parts warehouse in Waynesburg. In addition, for over 30 years, he worked as a security officer for the Meadows Racetrack, where he enjoyed all of his friends and co-workers.
He was a loyal Steelers fan, enjoyed hunting, and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also, Mr. Larkin loved to watch wrestling, especially when his late son, Billy, wrestled.
He was Presbyterian by faith.
On September 3, 1950, he married Betty Simms, who survives. Bill and Betty enjoyed 64 wonderful years of marriage.
Also surviving are a son, Michael (Cathy) Larkin of Washington; two brothers, Wayne (Sharon) Larkin and Dale Larkin, both of Ravenna, Ohio; a sister, Sally (William) Davis of Ravenna, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Terry) Marth, Kristi (Eric) Dalnoky, and Mike (Danielle) Larkin, all of Washington, and Billy (Chelsea) Larkin of Charleston, West Virginia; and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased is his oldest son, Billy Larkin.
Friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 29th, with Rev. Joe DiDonato officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
