Caroline F. “Pete” Jewell, 96, of Washington, died Tuesday, August 25, 2015, in Transitions HealthCare.
She was born March 12, 1919, a daughter of William Fleissner and Amelia Driehorst Fleissner.
Mrs. Jewell attended Washington High School and worked at Hazel Atlas and Brockway Glass for several years and Brown’s Shoe Store for 23 years.
Mrs. Jewell was a member of First Christian Church, the Auxiliary of Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175, 10th Worthy Assembly #11, White Shrine #25 and a life member of Lincoln Chapter 112 Order of Eastern Star.
She will be missed by her many friends at Transitions (Humbert Lane), where she had been a resident for several years.
On May 21, 1940, she married John Dodd Jewell Jr., who died October 1, 1950.
Surviving are a daughter, Claudia J. (Gerard) DaVia of Pittsburgh; a grandson, Michael DaVia of Pittsburgh; a sister-in-law, Betty Jewell Bucci of Florida; three nephews, Jack Fleissner, William Fleissner and Carl Fleissner, Jr.
Deceased are brothers, Carl “Bus” and Leroy “Abie” Fleissner; three sisters, Freda Weston, Christine Carlisle and Ella Bromley; and a nephew, Dornie Fleissner.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7 p.m., the time of service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Rev. Stephen Smythers officiating. Burial in Washington Cemetery will be private. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
