Merle W. Sargent, 77, of Washington, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 26, 2015.
She was born in Sheffield, England, August 7, 1937, a daughter of Albert Winfield and Evelyn Barlow Winfield.
She attended Washington High School and graduated from Trinity High School.
She worked in the cafeteria at Trinity Middle School for eight years and had also worked in the Club House at Lindenwood.
Mrs. Sargent loved being with her grandchildren and enjoyed art work, drawing and painting.
On September 14, 1957, she married John N. Sargent, who died May 8, 2011.
Surviving are a son, John (Nancy) Sargent, and a daughter, Michelle (Kevin) Yocum, both of Washington; a sister, Elaine (Harry) Levers, of Fortville, Indiana; and seven grandchildren, Juliet (Jarrod) Highberger, Marguerite (Sam) Miller, Marielle Sargent (Tyler Potts), Justin Bartlett (Jackie Cook), Stephanie Bartlett, Lyndsay Sargent (Zack Anderson), and Nicholas Sargent; daughter-in-law, Janet Sargent; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a son, Steven K. Sargent.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery.
