Jerry Lee Nelson, Sr., 77, of Washington, died on Saturday, July 11, 2015, in UPMC, Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born on January 12, 1938, in West Finley, a son of the late, Clarence Ray and Flossie Archer Nelson.
Mr. Nelson was a 1956 graduate of West Alexander High School.
Jerry worked at Lou Elliot’s Amoco, drove a Washington City Bus, and had worked for Superior Valve and Sherwood Valve, for over thirty-nine years.
He loved cars, and enjoyed travelling.
Surviving are his long-time companion, Myrna Sloneker; three sons, Rick (Ava) Prutzman, of Washington, Jerry Nelson, of Sarasota, FL, and Randy (Donna) Nelson, of Greenville, SC; a brother, Rex (Elaine) Nelson, of Washington; a sister, Flo Stone, of Washington; and two grandchildren, Michael and Jennifer Prutzman.
Deceased is his wife, Virginia L. Tarr Nelson, a son, Terry L. Nelson, a brother, Donald E. Nelson, and three sisters, Helen Lewis, Fairy Barrette, and Mickey Rhodes.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 16, 2015.
Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
