Edith Helen D’Ignazio Reis, 87 of Washington died Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Donnell House. She was in declining health for several years.
She was born October 10, 1927 in the Mt. Oliver section of Pittsburgh, the daughter of Italian immigrants, Matteo and Concetta Montrasti D’Ignazio.
Edith was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and camping.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, I.C. Quilters, M.E.S.H. Program at I.C., Martha Washington Quilters Guild and the Vittoria Lodge. She loved Pirates Baseball.
On April 12, 1947 she married Norman George Reis who survives. They were married for 68 years.
Also surviving are four daughters, Sandra M. (Thomas) Dames of Washington, Norma Jean (Elmer “Bud”) Plants of West Alexander, Concetta “Connie” (Harold “Ken”) Dorsey of Claysville, Kimberly A. (Randall) Phillips of Prosperity; a brother John (Jean) D’Ignazio of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Lena Lapko of Munhall and Rose Leroch of Pittsburgh; eleven grandchildren, Tad (Cathy) Dames, Thomas (Holly) Dames, Troy (Elizabeth) Dames, Michael (Misty) Plants, Tina (James) Eldred, Shannon Maxwell, Carl (Tammy) Dorsey, CarrieAnn (Norman) Arthur, Adam (Katie) Phillips, Nicole Phillips, Matthew Phillips; 25 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Anthony D’Ignazio; two sisters, Mary and Maria D’Ignazio.
Friends will be received Thursday, July 9, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church with Father William Feeney as celebrant. Burial will be at a later date in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
