Joyce Aileen Keenan Fletcher, 73, of Washington, died Monday, June 15, 2015, in UPMC – Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, surrounded by her children and the medical teams/staff of UPMC – Presbyterian, who provided loving care to her.
She was born August 30, 1941, in Washington, a daughter of the late Howard Woodrow Keenan and Cecilia Aileen Shaffer Keenan Reese.
Ms. Fletcher attended I.C. Elementary School and High School before graduating from Washington High School in 1959. She worked as a selector-packer at Metro Ball Glass for 17 years and was a notary.
Ms. Fletcher was a member of the American Society of Notaries, AARP and Lady Hogue Rebekah Lodge 102, and a former member and treasurer of the Arms Club.
She enjoyed fishing and cooking for her family. In addition, she enjoyed singing and dancing, and was an exceptional dancer in her younger days.
Ms. Fletcher loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends. She loved to watch WWE Wrestling with her grandchildren and was known as a gamer to her grandchildren and their friends.
On March 10, 2003, she was blessed with a single right lung transplant at UPMC; a selfless act from another that gave her life for an additional 12 years, 3 months and 5 days. And, within that time, she was blessed to be able to hold her first great-grandchild.
A member of Immaculate Conception Church, Ms. Fletcher was a devoted Catholic and truly faithful woman of God.
Surviving are three children, Adrian M. Fletcher (Jodi) of Claysville, Debora A. Fletcher (Ron Hampton) of Washington and Jerry Fletcher Sumney (J.D.) of Washington, with whom she made her home; two brothers, Howard J. Keenan of Ohio and Edward T. Keenan of North Carolina; six grandchildren, Cecelia Joy Aileen Wise, Joseph Wayne Gilbert, Preston M. Fletcher, Samantha J. Gilbert, Robert J. Ferri and Camden J. Fletcher; a great-granddaughter, Emilia Joel Howard; her former husband, Jerry P. Fletcher; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and two very special cousins who were like sisters to her, Becky Dami and Margaret Murray.
Deceased is a granddaughter, Tiffany L. Wise.
Left behind is her very special furry companion, Moose.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 till 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, June 19th, in Immacualte Conception Church. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
