James Lester “Tonto” Ratley, Jr., 72, of Washington, died Saturday, May 30, 2015, in his residence, following a lengthy battle with lung cancer.
He was born February 19, 1943, in Midland, a son of the late James L. Ratley, Sr. and Laura Elizabeth Lynch Ratley.
Mr. Ratley attended Midland High School and Washington High School. He worked at Mariana Mine #60 then as a press operator at All Clad for 18 years.
He enjoyed watching westerns on television and playing cards, and loved children.
Mr. Ratley was Baptist by faith.
Surviving are a brother, Gaylord W. Ratley of Washington; a host of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and a beloved family friend, Monda.
Deceased are brothers, Donald Edward, Leonard, Manfred, Carl, Delmar and Wendell; and sisters Dolores Burnett, Geraldine Collins and Beverly Pollard.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 5th. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
