John Allen “Cook” McKay, 70, of Hollywood, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 22, 2015, in his home.
He was born December 22, 1944, in Washington, a son of the late Torrence and Zelda Dillie McKay.
Mr. McKay graduated from Trinity High School and served in the Army in Vietnam, where he earned a National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. He moved to Florida in 1974 and worked as a freelance draftsman in residential construction.
Christian by faith, Mr. McKay loved Jesus and trusted in him.
He was a singer-songwriter, played the guitar, and enjoyed gardening.
On March 7, 1982, he married Donna Lynn DePaoli, who survives.
Also surviving are twin daughters, Shelly McKay and Sherry Jackson; a brother, James (Ann) McKay of Washington; a sister, Marlene McKay of Washington; and three grandchildren, Benjamin, Daniel and Bradley.
Deceased are two brothers, Jack and Danny McKay.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 29th. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
