Gilbert Wytt “Gil” Collins, 37, of Washington, departed this life, unexpectedly, at 10:17 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2015.
He was born on August 3, 1977, in Pittsburgh, a son of Alan George Collins, Sr., and the late Ailace Lewis Collins.
In his younger years, he made an impact at Fort Pitt Elementary School, where he was recognized for his drawings. That is also where he met Art Rooney, and the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1985.
Gil enrolled at Rogers Art Performing School, before moving to Atlantic City, New Jersey, where he attended and graduated from Atlantic City High School. Later, he attended Warren County Community College, with a major in criminal justice.
Mr. Collins had worked at Tennis Roofing, and as a chef at Bella Piatto, Big Jim’s Restaurant, Al 'an Ruben's Bar and Grill, Hog Father's, and was currently a chef at Angelo's Restaurant.
He enjoyed lifting weights, watching movies, and hanging out with friends and family.
Gil leaves behind to mourn, his beautiful wife, Anisah Sha’ron "Timmie" Collins, a step son, Troy J. Newmones, God-children, Acelia Sapp-Collins, Anya Sharp, Mohannahas Pennybaker, and Wahid Jones, a brother, Alan (Leesa) Collins, four sisters, Shirley (Babar) Iqbal, Malika (Charles) Parks, Nicole Myles, and Sarah (Heath) Whitaker; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Deceased, is a sister, Tereve Collins.
Friends and family will be received on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, May 18, 2015, with Evangelist Melvina Parks, Anisah’s mother, officiating.
