John A. Murin, 82, of Washington, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015, in his home.
He was born October 12, 1932, in Bertha Mine, a son of John and Elizabeth Dudeck Murin.
Mr. Murin was raised in Atlasburg and graduated from Union High School, Burgettstown, in 1950.
He worked at Jessop Steel Corporation from April 1959, to January 1995, in the bar mill annealing and bar mill grinding departments.
Mr. Murin enjoyed watching all Pittsburgh sports teams and NASCAR and could be found at local sporting events watching his grandchildren. He also loved to play pinochle with his family.
Drafted into the Navy in 1955, he served on the USS Bryce Canyon AD-36 and the USS Wooster CL -144, and visited Japan, Hong Kong, Okinawa and Hawaii. . Mr. Murin was honorably discharged on August 9, 1957.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
On September 3, 1955, in St. Hilary Catholic Church, he married Anna Gersna, who survives.
Also surviving are four children, Donna (Gus) Moniodes, Patricia (Mark) Wheeler, Thomas (Robin) Murin and David (Nancy) Murin; 10 grandchildren, Natalie (Barry) Ridgeway, Arlene Wheeler, Nathan Murin, Jacob Murin, Pamela Moniodes, Ann Moniodes, Tyler Murin, David Murin, Grace Murin and Grant Murin; two great-granddaughters, Lucy Ann and Paisley Rose; siblings, James (Rose Maria) Murin and Joanne (Roger) Illig.
Deceased are a son, George Murin, and a brother, Jerome Murin.
Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 7 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A vigil service will take place at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday May 9th, in Immaculate Conception Church, with Father Lou Pascazi as celebrant. Burial will held in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Tuesday, May 12th at 10 a.m. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
