Mona L. Manes Lewton, 85, of West Alexander, died May 1, 2015, in Townview Health and Rehabilitation, Canonsburg.
She was born April 14, 1930, in Washington, a daughter of the late Clyde Alvin Manes and Gladys Lincoln Manes.
Mrs. Lewton was a 1948 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School and a 1951 graduate of Washington Hospital School of Nursing.
She worked at Washington Hospital for 20 years as a registered nurse. She also worked at United Cerebral Palsy, Ball Glass Company, McGraw Edison and Greenbriar Treatment Center.
Mrs. Lewton was a member of Allison Avenue Baptist Church, now Abundant Life Baptist Church, and the Elks. She enjoyed card club, playing darts, the Pirates and WildThings, and watching her granddaughter play sports.
On November 23, 1951, she married William Richard “Dick” Lewton, Sr., who died March 29, 2001.
Surviving are a son, William Richard Lewton, Jr., (Susan) of Newport News, Virginia; a daughter, Sue E. Lewton Jones (Dan) of West Alexander; six grandchildren, Ryan Lewton (Samantha), April Lewton, Elizabeth Lewton Wiggins (Josh), Karie Hensler Thomas (Steve), Terrence Jones, and Billie Jean Jones; and four great-grandchildren, Caroline, Victoria, Grady and Rhett.
Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 5th, with Rev. George Garancosky officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
