Mary Lou Scandale, 77, of Washington, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her bedside on April 28, 2015, under the care of the staff at The Pines of Mt. Lebanon and Pilgrimage Hospice of Robinson Township.
Mary Lou was born on July 15, 1937, first daughter to the late Anthony P. and Helen T. Rastovsky Scandale. She was a Catholic and a member of Immaculate Conception Church of Washington.
Mary Lou was an honors graduate of Immaculate Conception High School, class of 1955. After graduation, she began her work career at Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania and ended it at the Washington Health System from where she retired after more than 30 years in nutritional services.
Spending time with family and friends was one of her favorite past times along with traveling, dining out, and attending concerts and musicals at the theatre. Mary Lou was an avid reader and collected many beautiful books in her lifetime. She was an animal lover and donated to the Humane Society.
Surviving are her two sisters, Jo Ann (Nelson) Wade and Sandra (Calvin) Henry, one brother Joseph A. Scandale III, 9 nieces and nephews and 13 great nieces and great nephews. Also surviving are one maternal aunt, Rose Marie Trbovich, and one paternal uncle and aunt, Joseph and Idabelle Scandale.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, May 1st, in Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be held at a later date in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
