Mildred V. Mayer, 94, of Washington, died Friday, March 27, 2015, in her home.
She was born January 10, 1921, in Washington, a daughter of the late Albert Dornberger and Cora Jane Rizor Dornberger.
Mrs. Mayer graduated from Trinity High School and was a homemaker who worked at G.C. Murphy Co. She was a member of Fairhill Manor Church, a homemakers club and a card club. Her hobbies included ceramics, walking, sewing and camping.
Mrs. Mayer taught 4H classes and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
On October 3, 1940, she married Warren A. Mayer, who died May 12, 1980.
Surviving are two sons, Michael A. Mayer (Susan) of Pittsboro, North Carolina, and W. Scott Mayer (Lorain) of Wolfdale; four daughters, Bonnie Hall of Hazel Park, Michigan, Kathie Donahoo (Leroy) and Joyce Hutson (Bill), both of Washington, and Becky Fordyce (Joe) of Burgettstown; a sister, Kay Morgan (Larry) of Washington; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a brother, Albert, who died as an infant; and two sisters, Ruth Harris and Thelma Crawford.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, March 30th, with Rev. Meade Lacock officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
