Mary I. Hughes

Mary I. Hughes, 85 of Washington, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Washington County Health Center. She was born August 5, 1929 in West Alexander, the daughter of the late George Dorsey and Eva Alice McCormick Dorsey. Mary attended West Alexander High School and was a homemaker. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, playing the organ, religious music, knitting and crocheting. On November 6, 1954 she married Harold W. “Pete” Hughes Sr., who died August 1993. Surviving are a son, Harold “Skip” (Debra) Hughes Jr. of Erie; a daughter, Beth (Kenneth Jr.) Roble of Washington; seven grandchildren, Michael Roble, Michelle Stroop, David Roble, Jennifer Whittemore, Melinda Slider, Katherine Empey, Harold “Petee” Hughes III; 15 great grandchildren. Deceased are three brothers, Daryll, Cloyd and Glenn Dorsey. Friends will be received Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held Friday, March 20th at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Rich Narus officiating. Burial will follow at West Alexander Cemetery.
