Howard Earl “Buck” Plants, 90, of Claysville, died Thursday, March 12, 2015.
He was born March 8, 1925, in East Finley Township, a son of Harold W. Plants and Nellie Mae Calvert Plants.
During World War II, Mr. Plants served in the Army in the European Theater. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Twilight Industries in Belle Vernon and enjoyed restoring old farm tractors.
Mr. Plants was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Claysville.
On April 20, 1944, he married Gladys Louise Whiteman, who died October 23, 2006.
Surviving are five daughters, Doris (Louis) Romish of Bridgeport, Ohio, Nancy (Frank) Nielsen of Daisytown, Barbara “Diane” Plants of Claysville, Janet (Michael) Newman of Wasilla, Alaska, and Catherine (Andrew) Simpson of West Alexander; five grandchildren, Jackie Roberts, Barry Lohr, David Nielsen, Michael Nielsen and Stephen Simpson; and two grandchildren, Brandon Roberts and Natalie Nielsen.
Deceased are a brother, Harold W. Plants, and a sister, Ila M. Shaler.
Burial was held in West Finley Cemetery.
