Grace Carson Ulery

Surrounded by her family, Grace Carson Ulery, 98, passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 15, 2015 in Washington Hospital following a brief illness. She was born March 9, 1917 in Blaine Township, the daughter of the late Thomas Wright Carson and Bessie Amos Carson. Grace was a dedicated wife and mother, who always enjoyed spending ime and holidays with her family and many, many friends. She graduated from Taylorstown High School and attended Penn Commercial Business College. Before beginning a family she was an employee of Washington AAA and Brown’s Boot Store. After her sons were older she was employed at Sears Roebuck for many years. After retiring she and her husband, Tom loved to deliver Meals on Wheels and took great joy in befriending and comforting those they visited. She was a member of Fairhill Manor Christian Church and its predecessor the Second Christian Church of Washington, for over 70 years and dearly lover her “Church Family”. She enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, painting, bird watching and cooking for her family and friends. On August 31, 1941 she married Thomas L. Ulery and was happily married for over 65 years until his passing in 2007. Surviving are two sons, James P. (Marlena) Ulery of Claysville and Thomas C. (Pam) Ulery of Washington; four grandchildren, Caleb, Azure, Shelva and Shyleigh Ulery; three great grandchildren, Isabella, Gianna and Luca Ulery; many cherished nieces and nephews. Deceased are two brothers, Donald and Samuel Carson. Friends will be received on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held Thursday, March 19th at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Michael Lehman officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
