Rosalie Nicoson Powelson, 89 of Washington, died Saturday, March 14, 2015.
She was born April 11, 1925 in Terre Haute, Indiana, the daughter of the late Arthur L. and Marian Rogers Nicoson.
After graduating from Canonsburg High School, Rosalie worked for Kaufmann’s and Stone and Thomas in Wheeling, WV.
On July 8, 1947 she married R. Glenn Powelson who died March 2, 2015.
Throughout her life, Rosalie loved animals, history, gardens and antiques. She and Glenn made their home in Hickory, where they lived with their son, John S. Powelson and her dogs, cat and horses.
She was a past Board Member of ARC, Washington County Historical Society, the Mount Pleasant Township, Historical Library, the Vigo County Historical Society and the Clay County Genealogical Society.
Rosalie was predeceased by all four of her Nicoson Sibling, 2 infant daughters and her devoted husband of 67 years, Glenn Powelson.
Rosalie is survived by her son, John S. Powelson; her nephew, John P. Nicoson; her niece, Mary I. Nicoson and many members of the larger Powelson Family.
Friends will be received Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 1 to 2 p.m. the time of service at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington. Burial will follow at Mt. Prospect Cemetery.
