Margaret Alice “Peggy” Smyth, 91 of Washington, died Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Presbyterian Senior Care.
She was born January 14, 1924 in Monessen, the daughter of the late Hugh Smyth and Alice M. Murphy Smyth.
Peggy worked at Alcoa for 35 years and Pittsburgh Steel & Wire during World War II.
She was very active in her great nieces and nephew’s lives, especially their sporting events.
She attended St Hilary Roman Catholic Church and was an animal lover.
Surviving are a sister, Rita Miller of Princeton, IL; several nieces and nephews, Jodie Ward, who was her primary caregiver; numerous great nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two sisters, Nell Petrus and Patricia Guarascio; two brothers, Vincent Smyth and Hugh Smyth who was a pilot at Pearl Harbor killed in action.
Friends will be received Friday, March 13, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 10: 00 a.m. at St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church with Father Thomas O’Neil as celebrant. Burial will follow at Belle Vernon Cemetery.
