Ralph Glenn Powelson, 92, of Washington, died on Monday, March 2, 2015, in his home.
He was born on October 8, 1922, in West Middletown, a son of the late Ralph H. and Ruth Cowden Powelson.
He was a graduate of Hickory High School, and was Presbyterian by faith.
A U.S. Army veteran of WWII, he was involved in action in Normandy, crossing the Rhine, Central Europe, and the Rhineland.
For his service, he was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Medal, with two bronze stars, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Powelson had worked as a supervisor for Bell of PA.
He was a farmer, who enjoyed farm shows, steam engine shows, and going to the auction.
Ralph had been the president of the Mt. Prospect Cemetery Association and the Mt. Pleasant Township Community Center.
On July 6, 1947, he married Rosalie Nicoson, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, John S. Powelson, of Washington, a sister, Marion (Harry) Mounts, of Washington, and a nephew, John Nicoson.
Deceased are two daughters, Kathleen Ann, who died in infancy, and Nancy Susan Powelson, and a brother, Kenneth Powelson.
Friends will be received on Saturday, March 7,2015, from 1 to 2 p.m., the time of services, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes., Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington.
Burial will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery.
