Peggy Joann Mcadams

Peggy JoAnn McAdams, 81, of Washington, died Tuesday, January 6, 2015, in her home. She was born December 15, 1933, in Claysville, a daughter of the late Harold “Ike” Post and Hilda Hancher Post. Mrs. McAdams graduated from Claysville High School and worked as a cashier at the Washington Shop-N-Save for 32 years. She was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church and attended Lighthouse Community Church. Mrs. McAdams especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as her dogs, Abby and Susie. In addition, she enjoyed flower gardening and feeding birds. She was a great pie baker who was known for her delicious coconut cream pies. On February 14, 1955, she married William G. “Whitey” McAdams, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Ralph W. (Trudy) McAdams of Washington, Frank R. (Pam Schneider) McAdams of Claysville and Michael W. (Cammy) McAdams of West Finley; a daughter, Peggy A. (Richard) Hines of Fincastle, Virginia; two sisters, Lois “Tip” (Fred) Brownlee of New Holland and Marion “Tom” (Dave) Mounts of Washington; six grandchildren, Frank (Kelly) McAdams, Jonathan McAdams, Crystal McAdams, Candace (Jeremy) Bird, Michael (Amanda) McAdams, and Matthew (Samantha Denman) McAdams; and four great-grandchildren, Nikolas, Tyler and Michael McAdams and Bailey Bird. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, January 10, with Rev. Duane Wolfe officiating. Burial will be held in Claysville Cemetery.
