Winnie Louise Knox, 90, of Washington, died Thursday, October 10, 2013 at home.
She was born February 7, 1923 in Morgantown, WV, the daughter of Willard Holden Burnside and Eula Pearl Danley Burnside.
Winnie graduated in 1940 from Brownsville High School. She was a member of and attended North Buffalo Church for 66 years, where she was treasurer of the Missionary Society and taught Sunday School.
Winnie was a homemaker and a member of Martha V. Paul Order of the Eastern Star and Buffalo Grange, where she was the lecturer for many years. She was a volunteer at the Washington Hospital for many years too. She was active at the Washington Senior Citizens Center, a Cub Scout Den Mother and cooked and organized roast beef dinners at the Grange and church.
On August 3 1942, she married Lloyd Vincent Knox who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Gerald (Sue) Knox of Warren, Rev. R. Daniel (Pam) Knox of Ambridge; two daughters, Marilyn (Doug) Ward of Washington, Linda (John) Morgan of Canonsburg; a brother Harry (Eleanor) Burnside of Beloit, WI; nine grandchildren, Jodi Wiler, Tamara Rotunda, Daniel Ward, John Morgan, April Hincy, Sarah Maffet, Dr. James Knox, Jesse Knox, Rachel Payne; 11 great grandchildren, Blake Montour, Gina, Carl Jr., and Morgan Rotunda, Abigail, Jacob Lydia, and Susanna Maffet, Aiden and Logan, Payne and Fiona Hincy; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Deceased are a brother, Robert Burnside; a sister, Betty Lengjak.
Friends will be received Saturday, October 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington. Services will held on Monday, October 14 at 10:00 a.m. at North Buffalo Presbyterian Church with Pastor Gary Gibson and Rev. R. Daniel Knox co-officiating. Burial will follow at North Buffalo Cemetery.
